FAQ
Common questions about internet in Sunnyvale
How much does home internet cost in Sunnyvale?
U-wifi Home Unlimited is $55 a month anywhere we're live in Sunnyvale, whether you're in Sunnyvale Town Center, Apple Park or out by Mountain View station. The next-gen gateway, two-day shipping and your first 30 days are free, and there's no contract. Or pay nothing at all with FreeU: watch ads you choose in the U-wifi app and earn credit toward your bill.
How does free internet in Sunnyvale work?
Every U-wifi customer in Sunnyvale can switch on FreeU inside the U-wifi app. Our Choice Advertising model lets you pick the ads you see, and watching them earns credit against your monthly service. Watch enough and the $55 is covered. Keep watching past that and you earn U-Bonus points toward merchandise in the U-store. Same gateway, same unlimited data, same speeds.
How fast is U-wifi internet in Sunnyvale?
Wired speeds in Sunnyvale vary widely by street and neighborhood, especially in older areas where infrastructure hasn't kept pace with growth. U-wifi delivers true broadband over 5G, with performance that depends on tower proximity and carrier load in your area. U-wifi doesn't tie you to one network. Our gateway picks the strongest 5G signal at your address across the major national carriers and switches if a better one appears, so you get the best speed available in your part of Sunnyvale at any given hour. For the best signal, put the gateway near a window on the highest floor, facing the nearest tower.
Do wildfires and power shutoffs affect U-wifi service in Sunnyvale?
Wildfire season, public safety power shutoffs and winter atmospheric rivers are the main risks in the Santa Clara Valley. Because U-wifi runs on multiple carrier networks instead of a single cable line, if one tower goes down your gateway shifts to the next available one. During a major wildfire or shutoff event, service depends on carrier tower power and backup systems, but you're not waiting on a single provider to restore a downed line.
Can I get U-wifi in an apartment in Sunnyvale?
Yes. Apartments around Moffett Park station and the Apple Wolfe campus get U-wifi the same day the gateway arrives, no landlord permission needed. The gateway plugs into any outlet and works best near a window. No drilling, no antennas on the roof and nothing to remove when you move out. The gateway's wifi covers a typical 2,500 square foot home and supports up to 256 devices, so a one-bedroom or a shared house is fine.
How do I set up U-wifi in Sunnyvale?
Enter your Sunnyvale address to confirm coverage, order, and the gateway arrives within two days. Plug it in, find the U-wifi network on your phone or laptop, and enter the password printed on the bottom of the gateway. That's the whole install. No technician, no appointment window, and your first 30 days are a free trial.
What happens if I move within Sunnyvale?
Pack the gateway, plug it in at the new address and connect as usual. Then sign in to your U-wifi account and update your address. Nothing to return, nothing to reschedule, and the price stays the same.
What areas near Sunnyvale does U-wifi serve?
U-wifi is live across Sunnyvale and in Mountain View, Cupertino and Santa Clara. Enter your address to confirm availability at your home. If you're on the edge of coverage, the gateway also supports an external antenna for weaker 5G areas.
