FAQ
Common questions about internet in Elkhart
How much does home internet cost in Elkhart?
U-wifi Home Unlimited is $55 a month anywhere we're live in Elkhart, whether you're in Dunlap, Simonton Lake or out by Osceola. The next-gen gateway, two-day shipping and your first 30 days are free, and there's no contract. Or pay nothing at all with FreeU: watch ads you choose in the U-wifi app and earn credit toward your bill.
How does free internet in Elkhart work?
Every U-wifi customer in Elkhart can switch on FreeU inside the U-wifi app. Our Choice Advertising model lets you pick the ads you see, and watching them earns credit against your monthly service. Watch enough and the $55 is covered. Keep watching past that and you earn U-Bonus points toward merchandise in the U-store. Same gateway, same unlimited data, same speeds.
How fast is U-wifi internet in Elkhart?
Wired internet speeds in Elkhart vary widely by street and neighborhood, with some areas seeing fast fiber and others waiting years for upgrades. U-wifi delivers true broadband over 5G, and your gateway always picks the strongest signal available at your address. U-wifi doesn't tie you to one network. Our gateway picks the strongest 5G signal at your address across the major national carriers and switches if a better one appears, so you get the best speed available in your part of Elkhart at any given hour. For the best signal, put the gateway near a window on the highest floor, facing the nearest tower.
Do tornadoes and winter storms affect internet service in Elkhart?
Elkhart sees spring severe weather and ice storms that can knock out power and damage infrastructure. Because U-wifi connects to multiple carrier networks instead of a single cable line, if one tower goes down your gateway shifts to another. During a major tornado or ice storm, service depends on carrier tower power and backup systems, but you're not waiting on one provider to send a repair crew.
Can I get U-wifi in an apartment in Elkhart?
Yes. U-wifi works in apartments and townhomes across Dunlap, Osceola, and neighborhoods near Concord Mall, with no landlord permission required for the plug-and-play gateway. The gateway plugs into any outlet and works best near a window. No drilling, no antennas on the roof and nothing to remove when you move out. The gateway's wifi covers a typical 2,500 square foot home and supports up to 256 devices, so a one-bedroom or a shared house is fine.
How do I set up U-wifi in Elkhart?
Enter your Elkhart address to confirm coverage, order, and the gateway arrives within two days. Plug it in, find the U-wifi network on your phone or laptop, and enter the password printed on the bottom of the gateway. That's the whole install. No technician, no appointment window, and your first 30 days are a free trial.
What happens if I move within Elkhart?
Pack the gateway, plug it in at the new address and connect as usual. Then sign in to your U-wifi account and update your address. Nothing to return, nothing to reschedule, and the price stays the same.
What areas near Elkhart does U-wifi serve?
U-wifi is live across Elkhart and in Mishawaka, South Bend and Fort Wayne. Enter your address to confirm availability at your home. If you're on the edge of coverage, the gateway also supports an external antenna for weaker 5G areas.
