Fast home internet in
Ankeny, IA

U-wifi Home Unlimited is $55 a month anywhere we're live in Ankeny, whether you're in Saylorville, Alleman or out by Elkhart. The next-gen gateway, two-day shipping and your first 30 days are free, and there's no contract. Or pay nothing at all with FreeU: watch ads you choose in the U-wifi app and earn credit toward your bill.

Every U-wifi customer in Ankeny can switch on FreeU inside the U-wifi app. Our Choice Advertising model lets you pick the ads you see, and watching them earns credit against your monthly service. Watch enough and the $55 is covered. Keep watching past that and you earn U-Bonus points toward merchandise in the U-store. Same gateway, same unlimited data, same speeds.

Wired speeds in Ankeny vary widely by street and neighborhood. Some blocks get gigabit fiber, others wait years for an upgrade, and new subdivisions may have nothing at all. U-wifi doesn't tie you to one network. Our gateway picks the strongest 5G signal at your address across the major national carriers and switches if a better one appears, so you get the best speed available in your part of Ankeny at any given hour. For the best signal, put the gateway near a window on the highest floor, facing the nearest tower.

Derechos, tornadoes and ice storms are the main risks in Ankeny, and they can knock out power and damage infrastructure across Polk County. Because U-wifi connects to multiple carrier networks instead of a single cable line, if one tower goes down your gateway shifts to another. During a major storm, service depends on whether the carrier towers have power, but you're not stuck waiting on a single provider to dispatch a repair crew.

Yes. Renters near Ankeny High School and Ankeny Centennial High School can set up U-wifi without landlord approval, holes in the wall or a service visit. The gateway plugs into any outlet and works best near a window. No drilling, no antennas on the roof and nothing to remove when you move out. The gateway's wifi covers a typical 2,500 square foot home and supports up to 256 devices, so a one-bedroom or a shared house is fine.

Enter your Ankeny address to confirm coverage, order, and the gateway arrives within two days. Plug it in, find the U-wifi network on your phone or laptop, and enter the password printed on the bottom of the gateway. That's the whole install. No technician, no appointment window, and your first 30 days are a free trial.

Pack the gateway, plug it in at the new address and connect as usual. Then sign in to your U-wifi account and update your address. Nothing to return, nothing to reschedule, and the price stays the same.

U-wifi is live across Ankeny and in Des Moines, Urbandale and West Des Moines. Enter your address to confirm availability at your home. If you're on the edge of coverage, the gateway also supports an external antenna for weaker 5G areas.
