Every U-wifi customer in Sumter can switch on FreeU inside the U-wifi app. Our Choice Advertising model lets you pick the ads you see, and watching them earns credit against your monthly service. Watch enough and the $55 is covered. Keep watching past that and you earn U-Bonus points toward merchandise in the U-store. Same gateway, same unlimited data, same speeds.

Wired speeds in Sumter vary widely by street and neighborhood, depending on which provider has run lines and how recently they upgraded. Tower-based speeds depend on your distance from the nearest 5G site and how many people are using it, but the gateway always picks the fastest available signal. U-wifi doesn't tie you to one network. Our gateway picks the strongest 5G signal at your address across the major national carriers and switches if a better one appears, so you get the best speed available in your part of Sumter at any given hour. For the best signal, put the gateway near a window on the highest floor, facing the nearest tower.

Sumter sits inland but still faces Atlantic hurricane season and the flooding that comes with major storms. Because U-wifi runs on multiple carrier networks instead of a single cable line, if one tower loses power or connectivity your gateway shifts to the next available network automatically. During a major hurricane, service depends on whether the carrier towers in your area have backup power, but you're not waiting on a single wired provider to restore a downed line.

Yes. Renters near University of South Carolina Sumter and Central Carolina Technical College can take the gateway when they move, no lease clauses required. The gateway plugs into any outlet and works best near a window. No drilling, no antennas on the roof and nothing to remove when you move out. The gateway's wifi covers a typical 2,500 square foot home and supports up to 256 devices, so a one-bedroom or a shared house is fine.

Enter your Sumter address to confirm coverage, order, and the gateway arrives within two days. Plug it in, find the U-wifi network on your phone or laptop, and enter the password printed on the bottom of the gateway. That's the whole install. No technician, no appointment window, and your first 30 days are a free trial.

Pack the gateway, plug it in at the new address and connect as usual. Then sign in to your U-wifi account and update your address. Nothing to return, nothing to reschedule, and the price stays the same.

U-wifi is live across Sumter and in Florence, Columbia and Summerville. Enter your address to confirm availability at your home. If you're on the edge of coverage, the gateway also supports an external antenna for weaker 5G areas.
