Austin College
College campus with student housing and faculty neighborhoods nearby. Renters and first-year residents need internet fast, and a plug-and-play gateway works the day you arrive.
- 02
Grayson College
Community college with commuter students and surrounding residential streets. Tower-based service means no waiting on a technician to show up during the first week of classes.
- 03
Midway Mall
Retail hub with apartments and family homes in the surrounding blocks. Streets here filled in over decades, and a gateway that picks the best tower works whether cable reached your block or not.
- 04
Southmayd
Small town northwest of Sherman with quiet streets and older homes. Wired buildout can be slow this far from the city center, so a multi-carrier connection gets you online without the wait.
- 05
Knollwood
Residential area with a mix of single-family homes and renters. A gateway that switches towers automatically means you stay connected even when one network has trouble.
- 06
Luella
Small community east of Sherman with rural character and spread-out lots. Cable and fiber often skip these addresses entirely, but tower coverage reaches where lines don't.
FAQ
Common questions about internet in Sherman
How much does home internet cost in Sherman?
U-wifi Home Unlimited is $55 a month anywhere we're live in Sherman, whether you're in Austin College, Grayson College or out by Midway Mall. The next-gen gateway, two-day shipping and your first 30 days are free, and there's no contract. Or pay nothing at all with FreeU: watch ads you choose in the U-wifi app and earn credit toward your bill.
How does free internet in Sherman work?
Every U-wifi customer in Sherman can switch on FreeU inside the U-wifi app. Our Choice Advertising model lets you pick the ads you see, and watching them earns credit against your monthly service. Watch enough and the $55 is covered. Keep watching past that and you earn U-Bonus points toward merchandise in the U-store. Same gateway, same unlimited data, same speeds.
How fast is U-wifi internet in Sherman?
Wired speeds in Sherman vary widely by street and neighborhood. Some blocks see fiber, others get legacy cable, and many addresses wait years for an upgrade. U-wifi doesn't tie you to one network. Our gateway picks the strongest 5G signal at your address across the major national carriers and switches if a better one appears, so you get the best speed available in your part of Sherman at any given hour. For the best signal, put the gateway near a window on the highest floor, facing the nearest tower.
Do hurricanes and severe storms affect internet service in Sherman?
Sherman sits far enough inland to catch the tail end of Gulf hurricanes, and the Texoma region sees its share of hail and ice storms that knock out power and damage lines. Because U-wifi runs on multiple carrier networks instead of a single cable line, if one tower goes down your gateway shifts to the next available one. During a major storm, service depends on carrier tower power, but you're not waiting on a single provider to send a truck.
Can I get U-wifi in an apartment in Sherman?
Yes. Apartments around Austin College and near Midway Mall get the same plug-and-play setup as single-family homes, no landlord permission needed. The gateway plugs into any outlet and works best near a window. No drilling, no antennas on the roof and nothing to remove when you move out. The gateway's wifi covers a typical 2,500 square foot home and supports up to 256 devices, so a one-bedroom or a shared house is fine.
How do I set up U-wifi in Sherman?
Enter your Sherman address to confirm coverage, order, and the gateway arrives within two days. Plug it in, find the U-wifi network on your phone or laptop, and enter the password printed on the bottom of the gateway. That's the whole install. No technician, no appointment window, and your first 30 days are a free trial.
What happens if I move within Sherman?
Pack the gateway, plug it in at the new address and connect as usual. Then sign in to your U-wifi account and update your address. Nothing to return, nothing to reschedule, and the price stays the same.
What areas near Sherman does U-wifi serve?
U-wifi is live across Sherman and in McKinney, Allen and Frisco. Enter your address to confirm availability at your home. If you're on the edge of coverage, the gateway also supports an external antenna for weaker 5G areas.
