FAQ
Common questions about internet in Roy
How much does home internet cost in Roy?
U-wifi Home Unlimited is $55 a month anywhere we're live in Roy, whether you're in Hill Air Force Base, Sunset or out by Riverdale. The next-gen gateway, two-day shipping and your first 30 days are free, and there's no contract. Or pay nothing at all with FreeU: watch ads you choose in the U-wifi app and earn credit toward your bill.
How does free internet in Roy work?
Every U-wifi customer in Roy can switch on FreeU inside the U-wifi app. Our Choice Advertising model lets you pick the ads you see, and watching them earns credit against your monthly service. Watch enough and the $55 is covered. Keep watching past that and you earn U-Bonus points toward merchandise in the U-store. Same gateway, same unlimited data, same speeds.
How fast is U-wifi internet in Roy?
Wired speeds in Roy vary widely by street and subdivision. Some blocks have fiber, others have older cable, and new developments may have nothing yet. Tower-based speeds depend on signal strength and network load in your neighborhood. U-wifi doesn't tie you to one network. Our gateway picks the strongest 5G signal at your address across the major national carriers and switches if a better one appears, so you get the best speed available in your part of Roy at any given hour. For the best signal, put the gateway near a window on the highest floor, facing the nearest tower.
Do winter storms and wildfires affect internet service in Roy?
Winter storms and wildfire season are the main weather risks in Roy and the Wasatch Front. Because U-wifi runs on multiple carrier networks instead of a single cable line, if one tower goes down your gateway shifts to the next available signal. During a major storm or wildfire, service depends on carrier tower power and whether smoke or ice affects the radio link, but you're not waiting on a single provider to send a repair crew.
Can I get U-wifi in an apartment in Roy?
Yes. Apartment-heavy areas like Fairview Apartments and the complexes near Newgate Mall get the same plug-in setup with no landlord permission required. The gateway plugs into any outlet and works best near a window. No drilling, no antennas on the roof and nothing to remove when you move out. The gateway's wifi covers a typical 2,500 square foot home and supports up to 256 devices, so a one-bedroom or a shared house is fine.
How do I set up U-wifi in Roy?
Enter your Roy address to confirm coverage, order, and the gateway arrives within two days. Plug it in, find the U-wifi network on your phone or laptop, and enter the password printed on the bottom of the gateway. That's the whole install. No technician, no appointment window, and your first 30 days are a free trial.
What happens if I move within Roy?
Pack the gateway, plug it in at the new address and connect as usual. Then sign in to your U-wifi account and update your address. Nothing to return, nothing to reschedule, and the price stays the same.
What areas near Roy does U-wifi serve?
U-wifi is live across Roy and in Ogden, Layton and Bountiful. Enter your address to confirm availability at your home. If you're on the edge of coverage, the gateway also supports an external antenna for weaker 5G areas.
